8000HD - Weird Issues!

Hi folks, just wanted to see if anyone has had any issues similar to mine.

I just purchased a 8000HD monitor from B&H. I love the size and price of the monitor and I'm happy with the color/contrast etc. I'm using it primarily for composition & focus for my Sony Z7U. The unit arrived a few days ago and worked perfectly right out of the box. I fired it up for a few minutes over the last few days to test it....and it worked perfectly every single time.

Today I took it out on a paying job and it failed me miserably right off the bat. I arrived at the location with 4 fully charged batteries. I connected one fresh battery to my camera and another to the monitor. The monitor turned on and then turned itself off. I removed the battery and replaced it again...trying to make sure it was seated correctly and had a good fit. The unit would not turn back on. I connected another battery to it - it turned on and then off again. I went thru all my batteries connecting them to the monitor and it would turn on momentarily and then turn itself off. After wasting about 30 minutes trying different options, I put it back in the box that it arrived in and shot the job using only the LCD monitor on the camera. This is very disappointing considering how much I spent on the monitor and how much I really needed it at that moment.

Anyone else had any issues like this with their 8000HD monitor?

I just emailed B&H to see if they would overnight me a replacement right away as I have more jobs coming up and need a larger monitor than the camera provides on it's own.

Sorry to hear about the Monitor shutting off. Have you received a response from B & H? I think what will end up happening is B&H contacting us at ikan to replace the monitor.

We can save you that extra step and issue you a RMA # and have you monitor replaced.

Hi Julio - thanks so much for the offer. I have emailed you regarding this and also sent along a scanned copy of my B&H receipt!

This issue has been resolved....thanks to Julio @ Ikan!

B&H Photo wanted me to send the broken monitor back. They would then process it and send me out a replacement. This could have taken a week to 10 days easily. Julio picked up the reins and overnighted me a new monitor that appears to be working just fine. The monitor I bought from B&H worked fine for a few days but then died. Hopefully this one doesn't have any bugs and I can now rely on it to get the job done!
